EVENTS, ROLES, ACTIVITIES, briefly defined:

Band VP - Leadership role, Music Booster Executive Committee, monthly parent meetings, newsletters.
NEW Concert Band COORDINATOR—keeps parents of non MB students informed in transition from MB to concert season.
Color Guard COORDINATOR—with color guard director, coordinates all CG activities/ competitions
Indoor Ensemble COORDINATOR—December through April; IE practices, trips and competitions
BAND Trip COORDINATOR—oversees trip planning, MB and spring trips.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - maintains/updates databases of volunteers, recruits parent volunteers, sends lists to coordinators.
Music Booster Membership managed by Music Booster President
Uniform Committee COORDINATOR - Uniform fittings, repair, and distribution at all Marching Band and concert events. Help with plumes, gloves, and gauntlets at football games and competitions and tuxedos at indoor events.
Public Affairs—COORDINATOR and volunteers take photos, prepare news items and manage all PR activities for every band event.
Booster Storage Room—storage room for band stuff. Coordinator and volunteers keep it clean and stocked.

THE "UPDATE"—written and printed by Band VP; distributed at parent meetings
ON-CALL (call as needed)—volunteers willing to be called to help as needed.
Combo Coordinator—works with choral group to coordinate events with Jazz Combo.
Year Book Point Of Contact—with PR coordinator, arranges for photos and yearbook inserts on band.
Marching Band Camp— T-Shirts, water, emergency permission forms, database.
MB Lock-In/Alternative—social and team building event on a Friday during MB Camp.
Shirts/Polos/Jackets—sales and ordering of Chantilly band logo items.
MB Away games—each trip has a coordinator and chaperones
MB Competitions--usually 4 trips. Coordinators and several volunteers needed for all trips. Some local (Herndon HS); some 1-2 hours away; some overnights, such as NY.
MB Comp Truck Drivers—drive equipment trucks to competitions and games.
MB Equip/Water @ games—team of parents cover band seats in bleachers, take water jugs to field and distribute during games.
MB Middle School Night—invite 8th graders to march and play with the MB during a football game.
MB Homecoming Night—plan refreshments and honors for Homecoming night
MB Senior Recognition Night—recognition and refreshments for seniors and parents.
MB Banquet—banquet meal and decorations for MB students and parents. Students organize the program.
Nissan Pavilion – summer fundraiser; parents work in food and beer tents and proceeds earned in shares for student accounts
Football Concessions – fall—with choral and orchestra parents, sell food and beverages.
Scrip – ongoing—Giant and SFW scrip sales with percentage going to student accounts.
Coke Machine – Lounge—refill regularly. Proceeds to band fund.
Tag Day---Sept. all day event with Choral and Orchestra, organize fundraiser in neighborhoods. Provide lunch for students (pizza and sodas). Parents drive teams of students to assigned neighborhoods. Students go house to house and ask for cash donations to music programs in CHS. (Net is over $20, 000 each year.)
Pizza Sales-Sept.—order forms, organization and distribution of boxed pizza kits sold by students.
Pie Sale - Oct/Nov—organize sale and delivery of Mom’s Apple Pies; proceeds to student accounts.
Fruit Sale - Nov/Dec---sale of oranges and grapefruits by students; in 02 students sold $50, 000 of fruit.
Christmas Tree sale – Thanksgiving to winter holidays—sale of trees for weekends preceding winter vacation.
Winter Concert – (usually the Tuesday before Thanksgiving) Parents coordinate and help with concert program, stage set up, etc.
Tiny Tots Concert – Dec. (daytime event) Volunteers help with preschool event by band and chorus; 5 performances in one day.
Holiday Spectacular Concert – Dec. (two nights) Symphonic Band and Chantilly Jazz performances.
Band Pyramid Concert – Feb. concert with elementary and middle school bands.
ALL-District Band Performance--Hosted in 03 by CHS. Bands from middle/high schools compete, judged by professional adjudicators.
District Band Festival-March—district rating of concert and symphonic bands.
CHS Jazz Festival - March  Thursday, Friday and Saturday adjudicated event with about 30 jazz bands and a professional jazz band.
Indoor Ensemble Comps - Feb/Mar-----competition trips for IE
Indoor Ensemble Spring Trip - Dayton, Ohio
Band Spring Trip------Each Spring, the entire Band organization takes a special trip as a reward for all the hard work throughout the year. Past trips have included:  2000 Chicago; 2001 England/Wales; 2002 Orlando; 2003 San Francisco; 2004 Chicago 2005 Orlando
Spring Middle School Night/Auditions---information provided to prospective band parents while students audition for the bands.
Jazz/Pizzazz – May----with chorus and jazz bands, three nights of performances.
Band Awards Concert – June----all bands perform and awards distributed.
Band Awards Concert Program and Ads - sale of ads to support program publication.
Graduation – June, with orchestra band performs at graduation. Parents organize transportation and pizza, water, etc.
