Announcing the 30th annual Chantilly Invitational Jazz Festival! March 19th and 20th, 2010!

Bands representing some two dozen schools from Virginia, Maryland and the District will compete for scholarships, prizes and general “bragging rights” in small combo and big band divisions. The “Airmen of Note” has described this event as “the premier scholastic jazz competition on the entire East Coast.”

We anticipate this year’s festival again to be a two-day event (**If the Saturday schedule does not fill up we will move Friday’s performances to Saturday).  High school jazz combos will be featured on Friday night with award recognition given at the end of the evening to the outstanding high school jazz combo and outstanding jazz combo performer

The first 15 high school jazz bands to register for Saturday will be guaranteed participation in the Festival. Priority will be given to the school’s #1 jazz band on the Saturday performance schedule.  The top three finalist bands of the day will be provided dinner and then compete for top honors in the evening program. 

Two scholarships (approximately $500 each) will be awarded to outstanding high school senior jazz performers who will continue their education with either a major or minor in music.
