Example of an "A" Student
 |
Demonstrates superior work in daily rehearsals, and is always
prepared with music, fingerings, and good rehearsal technique. |
 |
Always works to the best of their ability in daily rehearsals to
obtain the highest in performance standards. |
 |
Is able to work effectively with teachers, and classmates and can
work independently or with members of a section when needed. Can function as a
leader if necessary. |
 |
Is on time and attentive. |
 |
Always attends after school rehearsals and performances. |
 |
Has correct music, pencil and equipment at all times. |
This is the type of active participation expected of an
“A” Student, however, it is not the entire criteria for any grade.
Attendance Policy for All Performing Groups
Excused Absences
 |
All
performances, practices, rehearsals are required |
 |
Check with
section leader and director for anything missed |
 |
All absences
must be cleared through the director at least a week in advance |
 |
Any request
for an absence requires a parent's permission by signed note |
 |
In the event of
an emergency absence :
 |
please try
to reach a director and inform them of the situation, at least leave
a message on the voicemail system |
 |
a note
must be presented as early as possible |
|
 |
Excused
absences follow the same guidelines as school - death in the family,
extreme illness, etc... |
 |
Extended
absence may have an effect on your section seating. |
Excused Tardy (What is an Excuse? Refer to the Chantilly Student Handbook.)
 |
Please enter room quietly. |
 |
Even excused
tardies must not become habitual. |
Unexcused Absences - “Skipping” is unacceptable. Do not take this
class, if you are prone to skip class:
 |
1
Unexcused - Referral, Detention and student must successfully
demonstrate by the next week for director information that was gone over
during rehearsal. |
 |
3
Unexcused – Failing grade in class for the quarter. |
Unexcused Tardy - More than two will cause you and the director a
problem. You are telling the director and the class you don’t want to be here
and a schedule change is in order. This class is only for those who: 1) want to
be here; 2) are here to work hard. If
you are continually late you are dragging the rest of the group down, which is
totally unacceptable:
 |
1 Tardy equals DETENTION - Duty assigned by the Director. |
 |
3 Tardies equal one unexcused absence. |
After School Commitments
There will be after school rehearsals, as needed, to prepare
for performances.
 |
All rehearsals are required. |
 |
After school rehearsals are an extension of this class and are
part of your grade. |
 |
If conflicts between Class Course and other after school
activities occur, attendance will be split evenly between the two. |
 |
Absence policy for class applies. |
