bullet

Always works to the best of their ability in daily rehearsals to obtain the highest in performance standards.

bullet

Is on time and attentive.

bullet

Always attends after school rehearsals and performances.

bullet

Has correct music, pencil and equipment at all times.

This is the type of active participation expected of an “A” Student, however, it is not the entire criteria for any grade.

Attendance Policy for All Performing Groups

Excused Absences

bullet

All performances, practices, rehearsals are required

bullet

Check with section leader and director for anything missed

bullet

All absences must be cleared through the director at least a week in advance

bullet

Any request for an absence requires a parent's permission by signed note

bullet

In the event of an emergency absence :
bullet

please try to reach a director and inform them of the situation, at least leave a message on the voicemail system

bullet

a note must be presented as early as possible

bullet

Excused absences follow the same guidelines as school - death in the family, extreme illness, etc...

bullet

Extended absence may have an effect on your section seating.

Excused Tardy (What is an Excuse?  Refer to the Chantilly Student Handbook.)

bullet

Please enter room quietly.

bullet

Even excused tardies must not become habitual.

Unexcused Absences - “Skipping” is unacceptable. Do not take this class, if you are prone to skip class:

bullet

1 Unexcused - Referral, Detention and student must successfully demonstrate by the next week for director information that was gone over during rehearsal.

bullet

3 Unexcused – Failing grade in class for the quarter.

Unexcused Tardy - More than two will cause you and the director a problem. You are telling the director and the class you don’t want to be here and a schedule change is in order. This class is only for those who: 1) want to be here; 2) are here to work hard.  If you are continually late you are dragging the rest of the group down, which is totally unacceptable:

bullet

1 Tardy equals DETENTION - Duty assigned by the Director.

bullet

3 Tardies equal one unexcused absence.

After School Commitments

There will be after school rehearsals, as needed, to prepare for performances.

bullet

All rehearsals are required.

bullet

After school rehearsals are an extension of this class and are part of your grade.

bullet

If conflicts between Class Course and other after school activities occur, attendance will be split evenly between the two.

bullet

Absence policy for class applies.
